RESERVATIONS FOR OPEN SEATING WILL BE AVAILABLE THURSDAY, JULY 16, 2026
American Buffalo by David Mamet opens in Missoula on July 30. This landmark play explores greed, capitalism and the corrupted American Dream, themes that are unfortunately as relevant today as they were when it was first produced in 1975. Widely considered one of the most influential plays of the late 20th century, American Buffalo is a perfect blend of comedy and drama written in the signature style of one of the great icons of modern American Theatre. The play is widely produced to this day, and past productions have featured acting legends like Robert Duvall, Al Pacino, Laurence Fishburne, and John Leguizamo.
American Buffalo is being co-produced by Room 131 Productions and Inflatable Moose (which is TV writer/producer Ron Fitzgerald’s company). The three-person cast features longtime collaborators and UM Theatre graduates Salina Chatlain, Andy Greenfield, and Bobby Gutierrez, with Gutierrez doubling as Director. This trio was first onstage and on the road together in Montana Repertory Theatre’s 2003 Educational Outreach Tour of The Diaries of Adam and Eve (written by Ron Fitzgerald), and are reuniting for a decidedly less G-rated event!
DISCLAIMER: The show features intense adult themes and strong language throughout. It is not recommended for audiences under 18.
