Providing Opportunities for Missoula Artists
Missoula has a wealth of local talent, and Room 131 is dedicated to providing a platform for their work. Founders Salina Chatlain and Anna Stone have been acting, directing and producing in Missoula (as well as around the nation and the world) for decades. Their first play festival in March 2024, Aquaphobia, Echoes, and Resurrection, included 17 new plays written, directed and acted by locals.

STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES is a theatricalized presentation of true stories from the recovery community. This is the first time No Joke Theater has produced an evening of "original works only." This presentation is based on an 8-week Storytelling Workshop offered by No Joke Theater to members of the Missoula recovery community and formerly incarcerated individuals. Their personal stories provide the audience with a unique glimpse of addiction, recovery and incarceration in a way that could only be told by those who have lived it. No Joke Theater is the only theater company in Montana that creates theater with the formerly incarcerated, individuals under court-ordered supervision and members of the recovery community. (No Joke Theater is fiscally sponsored by Arts Missoula.)
